ABOUT ABOUT

Construct Learning is pleased to offer a virtual workshop on the award-winning Storytime STEM Packs. In this two-hour virtual workshop, participants will learn about the Storytime STEM process and learn how to integrate a Storytime STEM pack in your classroom.

Storytime STEM-packs are an educational innovation that makes it easy to integrate STEM+C concepts with children’s storybooks. You can learn more about Storytime STEM in this short video. Each participant will receive the Otter in Space Pack which covers the STEM concepts of Engineering Design and Forces and Interaction. This kit will be shipped to you prior to the workshop and will be used during the virtual session. When registering, please provide an address that currently accepts packages.

This Storytime STEM-Pack includes all the materials you need to engage kids in an engineering design task that also explores the concept of gravity and air resistance. The activity is launched by reading the popular children's book Otter in Space and challenges the children to help Otter solve a problem, ensuring a safe landing as Otter and his friends return from the moon.

Included in this set, you'll find:

  • Detailed instructions (i.e., lesson plan) for the learning activities
  • Parachute-making materials for twelve groups of two kids
  • Word wall cards to use in context
  • A copy of Otter in Space by Sam Garton

The cost of the workshop ($100) covers the workshop fee, the Storytime STEM pack, and shipping and handling costs.

Participants will also receive a certificate of completion and ample resources and materials to support STEM and literacy connections.
